# Configure ABBYY FlexiCapture for the Pega connector

> Prepare an ABBYY FlexiCapture project for the Pega connector: open or create the project and upload it to the FlexiCapture Application Server or Cloud.

ABBYY FlexiCapture processes documents within projects. It identifies the type of each document and applies the Document Definition prepared for that type.

Each Document Definition includes one or more export profiles that determine how document images and data are exported. To export data from ABBYY FlexiCapture, create a new script export profile in your project.

## Prerequisites

Install the ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Project Setup Station, which is required with both ABBYY FlexiCapture Distributed Edition and ABBYY FlexiCapture Cloud.

## Open or create a project

If you already have a project that you want to set up data export for, open it. Otherwise, create a project.

Launch the Project Setup Station and, in the **Open Project** dialog box, use one of the following ways:

* Click **Create New** to create a new project.
* Click **Browse** to open an existing project stored on your local drive.
* Click **Browse from Server** to open a project that you uploaded to the ABBYY FlexiCapture Application Server earlier.

### Application server version is not compatible

Uploading a project to the cloud, or opening a project from the cloud, can fail with this error:

The version of your Project Setup Station does not match the version of the cloud-based Application Server. To obtain a compatible version of ABBYY FlexiCapture, contact the [ABBYY sales office servicing your region](https://www.abbyy.com/contacts).
