# Manage image enhancement profiles

> Use built-in Photo and Scan image enhancement profiles in FlexiLayout Studio, or import custom profiles exported from ABBYY FlexiCapture stations.

Image enhancement profiles automatically apply all necessary image transformations to all uploaded images.

## Built-in profiles

ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio provides two built-in default profiles:

* **Photo** – Includes recommended enhancements for images of photographed documents
* **Scan** – Includes recommended enhancements for images of scanned documents

These profiles are identical to the built-in ABBYY FlexiCapture image enhancement profiles. Their purpose is to ensure that FlexiLayouts and ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio classifiers are created using images identical to those imported into ABBYY FlexiCapture.

<Note>
  The built-in profiles cannot be deleted.
</Note>

## Custom image enhancement profiles

You can also create custom image enhancement profiles. Custom profiles are created on an ABBYY FlexiCapture Scanning Station, on the Project Setup Station (for ABBYY FlexiCapture Distributed), or on the Administrator Station (for ABBYY FlexiCapture Standalone).

To use a custom profile in ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio, export it as an XML file from the station where it was created, and then import it into your FlexiLayout Studio project settings.

## Import a custom profile

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Image Enhancement Profiles tab">
    Click **Project** → **Project Settings...** to open the **Properties** dialog box, and then click the **Image Enhancement Profiles** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Import the profile">
    Click **Import...**, select the appropriate profile file, and click **Open**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can delete or export an imported image enhancement profile, but you cannot modify a profile in ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio or view its settings. To view the settings of an image enhancement profile, open its settings on the Scanning Station, on the Project Setup Station, or on the Administrator Station.
