# Sample 1. Step 1: Create a new project

> Create a new FlexiLayout Studio project for the Sample 1 Halloween form tutorial, naming it Sample1 and reviewing the files and folders it generates.

A FlexiLayout Studio project is a set of files that contains all the data for a FlexiLayout.

  <Step title="Create a project folder">
    Create a folder named **Halloween Form**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a new project">
    Start ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio and select **File → New Project**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name and save the project">
    * In the project name field, type **Sample1**.
    * For the project type, select **ABBYY FlexiLayout Project Files** (`*.fsp`).
    * Specify the path to the **Halloween Form** folder.
  </Step>

After you create the project, the **Halloween Form** folder contains:

* **Sample1.fsp** – Your project file.
* **Sample1Batch** – The default folder where all images added to the batch are stored.
* **Sample1Templates** – The default folder where the FlexiLayout is stored.
