# Sample 1. Step 4: Pre-recognition

> Run pre-recognition on the batch images in FlexiLayout Studio Sample 1 to find objects that can serve as signposts when searching for field blocks.

Before you create document elements, identify which objects on the document can serve as "signposts" when searching for fields ([blocks](/flexi-capture/fls/template/blocks)). These are usually pictures or text fragments that are consistently detected during [pre-recognition](/flexi-capture/fls/batch/prerecognition).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the batch images">
    In the **Batch** window, select all the images.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run pre-recognition">
    Select **Pre-Recognize** in the **Batch** menu or in the shortcut menu of an image.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you change or add images in the batch, run pre-recognition again. An image that has not been pre-recognized is pre-recognized when it is matched against the FlexiLayout.
