# Editing a Picture Element

> Set picture element properties in the Element Properties window: size mode (Clip, Stretch, Zoom), alignment, source image file, and background color.

For each **picture** element, the following properties can be specified: position and size, size changing mode, alignment, source image file and background color.

The properties of a **Picture** element can be edited in the Element Properties dialog box (right-click a **picture** element and select Properties... on the shortcut menu).

You can change the properties of the **Picture** element in the Element Properties window located in the bottom right corner of the [main window](/flexi-capture/form-designer/main-program-window). The Element Properties window is displayed only if **View →** Element Properties is selected on the main menu.

## Element

**Type** — Picture

**ID** — A unique identifier of the element.

## Position and size

**Left** — Sets the distance you wish between the left edge of the form and the element with no left indent.

**Top** — Sets the distance between the top edge of the form and the element.

**Width** — Sets the width of **Picture** element.

**Height** — Sets the height of **Picture** element.

## Picture

**Size mode** — Changes the size of the element in one of three modes:

* **Clip** – changes the size of the element but does not change the size of the picture and its proportions. The picture itself cannot be enlarged in this mode. If the element becomes smaller than the picture, a part of the picture will become invisible on the form.
* **Stretch** – changes the size of the element and shrinks or stretches the picture depending on the size of the element. The entire image will always be displayed, but the image proportions will not be preserved.
* **Zoom** – changes the size of the element and enlarges or reduces the picture size in proportion to the size of the element. The entire image will always be displayed, and the image proportions will be preserved.

**Alignment** — Aligns the image inside the element:

* **Top Left** – places the picture in the top left corner of the element
* **Top Right** – places the picture in the top right corner of the element
* **Center** – places the picture in the center of the element
* **Bottom Left** – places the picture in the bottom left corner of the element
* **Bottom Right** – places the picture in the bottom right corner of the element

**Source** — Specifies the source image file.

To specify the source file from which the picture will be loaded:

1. Click the "**…**" button.
2. In the dialog box that appears, browse to the file containing the picture you wish to add to the form.

The following image formats are supported:

* Bitmap (`*.bmp`)
* DCX (`*.dcx`)
* DJVU (`*. djvu`)
* GIF (`*. gif`)
* JBIG2 (`*. jbig2`)
* JPEG (`*.jpg`; `*.jpeg`; `*.jfif`)
* JPEG-2000 (`*.jp2`; `*.j2c`)
* PCX (`*.pcx`)
* PNG (`*.png`)
* TIFF (`*.tif`; `*.tiff`)
* PDF (`*.pdf`)

## Background

**Same as form background** — Makes the background of the **Picture** the same color as the background of the form.

**Other** — Selects a **Picture** background color from the drop-down list for dropout forms or from the palette for color forms.

<Info>
  The range of available colors depends on the type of your form (black and white or color).
