# Creating a Document Definition for ABBYY FlexCapture

> Turn a published ABBYY FormDesigner form into a Document Definition by exporting it to XFD format and importing the file into ABBYY FlexiCapture.

An important advantage of ABBYY FormDesigner is that once you have created a form in ABBYY FormDesigner you automatically get a form description that can be used to create a Document Definition in ABBYY FlexiCapture.

To get a description for ABBYY FlexiCapture:

1. Create a form in ABBYY FormDesigner.
2. Publish the form (**File →** **Publish Form**).
3. Export the published form to XML Form Definition format (**File → Export To →** **XML Form Definition...**). In the **Export to XML Form Definition** dialog box that appears, provide a name for the file and browse to the folder where it will be stored.
4. Run ABBYY FlexiCapture and open the **Document Definitions** dialog box (**Project → Document Definitions...**).
5. Click **Import** and select the newly-created `*.xfd` file.
