# Resizing Form Elements

> Resize form elements in ABBYY FormDesigner by dragging the green border dots, resize symmetrically with the Ctrl key, or bind borders to parallel rulers.

Form elements can be resized as indicated by green dots on the borders of an element that become visible when the element is selected.

Not all elements can be resized directly with the mouse. The size of an anchor, for example, can only be changed on the **Anchor** tab of the **Element Properties** dialog box. Elements whose size can be changed have green dots along their borders when selected, and elements whose size cannot be changed have white dots.

To change the size of a form's element:

1. Select the element you wish to resize.
2. Place the mouse cursor on any green dot of the element's borders corresponding to the chosen direction of resizing the element; the cursor will change for arrows.
3. Click the required green dot, hold down the mouse button and move the mouse in the direction you want.

It is possible to resize elements symmetrically. It means that the element's size will change in the chosen and opposite direction.

To resize a form element symmetrically:

1. Select the element you wish to resize.
2. Press and hold the **Ctrl** button.
3. Place the mouse cursor on the required green dot of the border of the element; the cursor will change for arrows.
4. Click the required green dot, hold down the mouse button and move the mouse in the direction you want.

You can also change the size of an element by binding two of its borders to parallel [rulers](/flexi-capture/form-designer/align-rulers). If you bind several elements to parallel rulers, you will be able to change the vertical or horizontal size of all the bound elements simultaneously and to the same degree.

To change the size of an element using rulers:

2. Move the rulers or the elements so that the elements' borders which need to be resized coincide with the rulers. This will bind the borders to the rulers.
3. Click one of the rulers and drag it holding down the left mouse button. The size of all the elements will be changing as you move the ruler. Release the mouse when the elements are the right size.

<Note>
  You can only change the vertical size of the **entry field** element if the **Multiple rows** option is selected for it.
