Install the Appian connector

Install the ABBYY FlexiCapture Connector for Appian from its ZIP package, registering the FlexiCapture Connector for Dms service for Appian 11 with installutil.

The ABBYY FlexiCapture Connector for Appian is distributed as a ZIP archive that includes all the required components and samples. This applies to both Appian 11 and Appian 12.

Appian 12 needs no further installation steps. Appian 11 additionally requires the ABBYY FlexiCapture Connector for Dms Windows service.

Register the Connector for Dms service (Appian 11)

1. Copy the service files

   Copy the following files from the distribution package into a local folder on your computer:

   • DmsConnectorHost.exe
   • DmsConnectorHost.exe.config
   • DmsConnector.dll
   • AppianConnector.dll
   • Newtonsoft.Json.dll
2. Register the service

   Open the Command Prompt and run the following command:

   C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe /LogToConsole=true DmsConnectorHost.exe
   
3. Start the service

   Start the service in Windows.

Service settings in DmsConnectorHost.exe.config

The DmsConnectorHost.exe.config file stores the service settings. These include the address of the WCF service and the names of the service log files:

Update the connector (Appian 11)

1. Stop the service

   Stop the service in Windows.

2. Unregister the service

   Open the Command Prompt and run the following command:

   C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe /u /LogToConsole=true DmsConnectorHost.exe
   
3. Install the new version

   Install the new version of the service.

4. Update the connected libraries

   Update the libraries connected to the ABBYY FlexiCapture project. For more information, see Add the Appian connector assemblies to a Document Definition.
